The second edition of KinoKino – International Film Festival for Children was officially closed with an award ceremony at Europa Cinema. Two juries, the professional and the children’s jury, reached their decisions on the winners.

This year’s professional jury consisted of the Croatian director, dramaturge and creative jack of all trades Mario Kovač, German actor David Kross, and the Croatian director and illustrator Milan Trenc. Their choice was the Dutch film The Day My Father Became a Bush, by Nicole van Kilsdonk, a Croatian co-production which “universally and recognisably portrayed the senselessness of war through a child’s point of view.”

The KinoKino children’s jury chose the German film The Boy Who Sold His Laughter as the best film of the festival. This is director Andreas Dresen’s first film for children.

This children’s jury comprised five primary schoolchildren: Ana Bagović, Tamara Iveković, Anuška Priska Klapan, Gabriel Roller and Leda Ujević. They chose the German film The Boy Who Sold His Laughter as the best film of the festival, directed by the famous German director Andreas Dresen. This is his first film for children. Both juries gave a special mention to the same film, the French entry Fanny’s Journey by Lola Doillon, commending the exceptional cast. The audience award went to the Swedish film Tsatsiki, Dad and the Olive War by Lisa James Larsson.
