A fairy tale set in Central Europe in early 20th century about a little girl named Anka, adopted from an orphanage by her rich cousin. Soon after Anka’s arrival, the fancy cousin reveals the other side of her character. Disappointed and dejected, Anka runs away, with her heart set on going back to the orphanage. The road takes her to a brick mill deep in the forest, where rugged but kind-hearted brick mill workers give her a temporary home. In the dark depths of the forest, earthly life interweaves with the wondrous, curious world of forest creatures, visible only to children of vivid imagination. The screen version of Mate Lovrak’s novel Anka Brazilijanka also stars the famous French football player Éric Cantona.

 

About the director Dejan Aćimović

Dejan Aćimović is a Croatian actor and director. His 2000 feature debut Is It Clear, My Friend? won a Golden Arena in Pula for best supporting role and set design. He starred in many famous Croatian films, including one of the greatest hits in the past few years, Sonja and the Bull by Vlatka Vorkapić in 2012, and the latest, The Constitution by Rajko Grlić.
